we had similar beautiful hand painted silk walls in the rarely used formal dining room of my childhood home… my aunt traveled frequently to china as a pilot/physician for the american friends service and would bring home the most wonderful treasures for our home and family. it was deep royal blue, scarlett, cream, etc. i loved that room and used to go read on long summer afternoons in there…a rare quiet and cool room to myself!
